Don't give up the effort -- but do give some thought to expanding your writing realm, if you really hope to earn a living at it. I've never done anything else but write for a living for the past 20-plus years, raised two children on my own, and own a home, 10 acres and live simply but happily (when the car is working!) Besides talent (no credit to me for that) and hard work, versatility, flexibility and perseverance are the keys to success. Good luck to you.
